Lessons Learned 2

2. Sweat the small stuff. It’s the small things that matter.   Staying disciplined involves doing the next right thing and paying attention to details.  I’m still working on this one but paying attention to the details is vital.  Usually , it doesn’t take that long.  Consistency is  key and boy is this one tough one for me.  I’m in a constant battle with procrastination, “I’ll post my numbers later; I’ll log my eating tonight”.  Tonight, becomes tomorrow which becomes next week.  Find what works and implement it, then live by it.

This has a habit of spilling out into every area of life – in marriage, “I’ll say I love her tomorrow”.   “I’ll follow through on my intentions when this project is over”; even your relationship with God – “I’ll pray later today”,  “I’ll go to small group next week” or “I’ll serve this fall”.

Take a moment and imagine if you made it a habit to follow through on the small stuff – what would your life look like today?  How would your marriage be different?  Your relationship with your kids?  Your job?  You relationship with God and friends?

Be careful not to sacrifice the most important things for the busyness of life.  Stop for a second and pay attention to the details and see what happens…

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity…
